FAMILY FARMER. ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARD. FOCUSED ON INNOVATIVE, SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE.

A Farming Family

Since the early 1900’s, my family has been farming in Rock Hall, Maryland. In the 1940's, my grandfather, Herman E. Hill, Sr. started his own farm. By the 1950’s, the farm was growing and so was his family—and he welcomed his son—my father—Herman E. Hill, Jr. to work alongside him.

Three generations of the Hill family

In the 1960's, the farm became Herman Hill & Son, Inc., and continued to grow. It was then that a large portion of the existing grain system was constructed. By the 1970's and 80's, my father brought me into the the family business. The farm continued to flourish and grow. As it expanded, we changed the name again to Harborview Farms, wanting to reflect our location on the Eastern Shore overlooking the Chesapeake Bay.

Today, my father and I own and manage Harborview Farms. We are committed to responsibly producing grain in a way that considers not just our current environment, but the environment of our children and grandchildren. Together with the Harborview Farms team, we are pioneering new techniques to influence the ag industry as a whole, approaching traditional practices with creativity and innovation. Along the way, we have discovered pioneering solutions that move our farms and the industry forward with each new growing season.
